What are Liberation Lectures?
Liberation Lectures are educational workshops held to discuss specific topics having to do with the African Diaspora. During these sessions the Co-Founders and or guest speakers engage in dialogues centered on specifics topics focused on knowledge of the diaspora and the importance of building solidarity throughout the diaspora. We organize Liberation Lectures for communities and schools in all of the countries where we work.
Liberation Lectures include the following themes:
Natural Hair / Natural Hair Products
Community Organizing/ Transnational Solidarity
Permaculture/ Urban Agriculture/ Seed Preservation/ Plant Based Living and Eating
Birthwork/ Naturopathy
Dance/Drums
A range of Artist Exchanges
We have connections with various performing artists throughout the African Diaspora including Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. We have worked with artists such as:
Kombilesa Mi ( Colombia)
La Fina (Cuba)
Nitty Scott (Puerto Rico/ The United States)
These liberation lectures can include a musical performance by these artists with a facilitated Q&A to follow.
Other artists exchanges include film and documentary screenings with filmmakers such as Gloria Rolando (Cuba) and Michael Bussey ( United States)
